I would like to drop charges against someone, make additions to a
police report, or correct any inaccuracies in a report.
For all of the above requests, a voluntary statement must be
completed and notarized in the DA's Office. Only in special cases
where someone lives out of state or is too disabled to reach the
office may a notarized statement be mailed. This statement is then
entered into the defendant's file and evaluated by the DA.
Rarely is a case dismissed even if the victim requests that all
charges be dropped. The State is pressing charges against the
defendant, not the victim.
